Model Context Protocol server for the PropLine player props betting odds API. Exposes live odds, prop resolution, cross-book +EV, scores, and box-score stats as tool calls for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and any MCP-compatible client.
PropLine MCP demonstrates solid tool design with 22 well-named, read-only tools covering sports betting data. All tools have descriptions (avg 150 chars) and explicit JSON schemas with typed parameters. Naming follows verb_noun convention (get_, list_, propline_ prefix). However, several tools lack output schema documentation, parameter descriptions are sometimes generic, and error handling guidance is minimal. No tool annotations (readOnlyHint/destructiveHint) despite clear risk profiles. One WRITE tool (propline_create_free_api_key) lacks confirmation pattern.
Register a free PropLine API key for an email address. The key is emailed to that address and never returned here — the response is only a status message. Use this to help users get their own key (removes pooling, unlocks full free tier).
Export full line-movement tick history as CSV. Backfill pass / Enterprise only — other tiers get a 403. Returns raw CSV text; the tool caps row count so a large pull never floods the context. A time window (since/until) is required to bound the download.
Fetch DFS (daily fantasy sports) payout odds from PrizePicks and other platforms. Returns expected value and payout structure for slate contests.
Fetch contextual information for an event (injuries, weather, recent form, etc.). Helps explain why props are moving or why certain outcomes are more likely.
Fetch cross-book +EV (expected value) opportunities for an event. Returns lines where one book's odds are better than the consensus, with the EV% calculated against the sharpest available price. Optionally filter by min_ev_pct to show only plays above a threshold.
No output schemas documented for any tool. LLMs cannot plan downstream calls or extract fields without knowing response structure.
propline_create_free_api_key (WRITE tool) lacks confirmation/dry-run pattern. Agents could accidentally register multiple keys without user consent.
No tool annotations (readOnlyHint/destructiveHint/idempotentHint) despite clear risk profiles. 21 tools are READ_ONLY, 1 is WRITE, annotations would guide agent safety.
Parameter descriptions for optional filters (markets, bookmakers, period) are minimal. LLMs need guidance on when to use these filters and valid format.

No error handling guidance in tool descriptions. LLMs cannot determine if a 403 (tier restriction) is retryable, user-fixable, or fatal.
